State of The Port Luncheon
“The Port of Houston continues to anchor our regional economy, and is a
major economic engine for the state of Texas and the nation. It includes the
Port Authority’s eight public terminals and more than 150 privately owned
industrial facilities along the Houston Ship Channel (HSC).
The HSC is home to the world’s second largest petrochemical and refinery
complex, which is the leading driver of exports through the Port of Houston.
As local sponsor of the HSC, the Port Authority plays a vital role in facilitating navigation and commerce through this 52-mile federal waterway — the
busiest in the nation.”
