In An Early Autumn Sky
Red Flags Turn Blue
by T. Jenese Thompson
Monday, an impromptu decision for wine
Blessed assumption of couples nearby
Cursed notion considering the fine
Overriding flashing red in the sky
Motioning, waving unsuccessfully
Preposterous flag might have well been blue
That sunny day went beautifully
Carafe for three, at our table for two
We, well versed in chivalrous pretension
Both, conceded to the other’s new fray
Concluding the eve a due dimension
Cascading as though for mere naïveté
Escorted by an early Autumn sky’s tease
Of Winter we were influenced with ease
