D
had their head held down and were immersed in something on their phones. A few were aimlessly staring into
the distance. Normally, I greet them with at least, “Good
Morning!” if not, “Have a great day!” For some reason,
this particular day, I did not. (I thought, most of them
are connected to their gadgets, why bother?) As I passed
about 10 steps, I felt an impression that hit me in the
gut. “Don’t ever do that again.” I instantly asked, “Don’t
ever do WHAT again?” But as quickly as I asked, I knew.
“Don’t ever walk past a group of youth, or anyone for
that matter, without acknowledging them with at least
a smile.” This experience has been most impressionable
and I now make it a point to make eye contact and smile
at as many people as I can each day.
Building self worth in others is not rocket science. We
have no idea what our fellow earthlings/brothers/sisters are experiencing. Thinking that our kindness won’t
make a difference, we fall short of our potential to uplift, encourage, and build value in others by a simple acknowledgment that they matter.
In closing, go forth, my friends, elevate global happiness
starting in your family, neighborhood, your work, your
civic entities, your city, country and around the world!
Please, remember to make eye contact, SMILE, and acknowledge others around you as human beings of great
worth. You will experience more GRATITUDE for
humanity, you will enjoy more POSITIVE INTERACTIONS with others, and you will find GREATER
PURPOSE in life in small and simple ways as you Build
Self Worth in Others.
Until next month,
keep your smile on!
