Raceshop
Components by
Vance & Hines
Best known for their market leading
performance exhausts, founders Terry Vance and
Byron Hines’ origins are in drag racing and race
engineering tuning.
Vance & Hines’ new Raceshop Components
engine parts programme leverages that heritage
to present a range of high-performance options
for many of the market’s most popular late model
performance bikes.
“Manufactured with state-of-the-art equipment,
utilising stringent quality control procedures to
significantly improve all components for
prolonged durability and reliability, whether
building a street performance engine or a drag
motor, Vance & Hines engine components are
drop-in upgrades providing needed stability
while reducing premature wear.
For Kawasaki’s ZX-10R engine, Raceshop high
performance valves are “machined to exacting
tolerances” and available for ’11-‘16 models for
both intake and exhaust positions, and offered in
either stainless steel or titanium.
Precision CNC-machined from a chrome coated
stainless one-piece forging for higher strength
and durability, the micro-polished stem means a
smoother finish with less friction, resulting in
improved performance. The high-grade alloy is
designed to withstand high heat and maintain
roundness. Multi-angle back cuts are designed to
deliver enhanced flow, and the titanium valves
are said to offer approximately 10 g in weight
reduction compared to the OE valves, reducing
valvetrain stress and allowing the engine to rev
higher for more power.
Vance & Hines’ 5 mm machined valve keepers for
‘99-‘16 Hayabusa models have been precision-
machined on a high-speed Swiss screw from 1144
aerospace grade steel. Designed for high-
performance applications and high-tension valve
springs, they are said to deliver superior
performance compared to stamped OE valve
keepers.
They have been heat-treated and black oxide
finished for improved corrosion resistance, have
tolerances of +/-.001 for precision fit and are sold
as pairs or complete sets (16 pairs).

SC-Project exhaust options
In the June edition of IDN we reported that SC Project
had entered the ADV exhaust market for the first
time, and here we see the aggressive “Matt Black
Edition” version of their double chamber, double
perforated pipe design, as an alternate option to
their stylish titanium finish. The kit includes carbon
fibre protection and is now available for the BMW
R1200 GS, Honda Africa Twin, Suzuki V-Strom,
Triumph Tiger and KTM 1290 Adventure.
Also seen here for the Panigale 959, a Moto2 World
Championship race-bred, road legal Twin RT-T
exhaust that the company says gives the Panigale “a
slender line with a lighter muffler”.
For the Kawasaki Z900 and Z1000, SC Project has
Euro 4 approved Double S1 silencers with DB killers
– “two aggressively styled conical silencers that
blend perfectly with the futuristic design of the bike”.
With the engine from the Triumph Street Triple 765
RS set to replace Honda’s four-cylinder CBR 600RR
engines as the new official spec engine for the Moto2
series from 2019, SC Project has Euro 4 compliant
Street Triple 765 S1 silencers with a "S" link pipe in
full titanium, TIG welding in sections with 60 mm
diameter “to guarantee the best performance and a
strong and racing aesthetic impact”.
The S1 silencer, with “S” link pipe in full titanium, is
4.7 kg lighter than the original exhaust.
For the BMW S1000RR, SC Project has three different
road legal Euro 4 options – their S1 silencers, four
versions of their CR-T silencer and their full titanium
GP70-R.
The CR-T silencer is available in four different
versions for the S1000RR - full titanium, matt carbon
fibre, full titanium with titanium mesh or matt carbon
fibre with titanium mesh. The CR-T is 3.73 kg lighter
than the original muffler and delivers increased
performance throughout the entire rpm range,
especially at around 8,000 rpm, where gains of +7
hp and +6 Nm have been measured.
The GP70-R silencer is a full titanium design, starting
from link pipe to the silencer outlet, giving the system
“remarkable lightness”. The GP70-R is 3.70 kg
lighter than the OE system and has shown the same
mid-range +7 hp/+6 Nm power gains at 8,000 rpm
as seen with the CR-T.
The S1 silencer’s body is also full titanium, with a
conical structure and top-quality matt carbon fibre
end cap. The S1 is 3.53 kg lighter than stock and gives
+5 hp and +4 Nm at 8,000 rpm.
