Galfer S.A. was formed in Spain in 1952 as a
result of owner Maffio Milesi’s prior
collaborations in Italy with Fiat. A Fiat had been chosen by the Spanish government as
the development partner and minority shareholder
for SEAT, the car company established by the Spanish
government as a project to kick-start the domestic
Spanish automotive market, with the ambition of
having as much component manufacturing as
possible taking place in Spain.

Initially supplying SEAT with drum brake linings and
clutch discs, the company also made brake linings for
tractors, trucks and heavy equipment made in Spain
by Pegaso. The company went on to develop COBALT
high-performance brake linings for race and top-end
automotive applications, with its fist drum brake
linings for motorcycles made for Spanish
