INDUSTRY WATCH standards thereby improving our quality of services in addition to environmental protection. With virtualisation technology, we are reducing the number of servers, which is contributing towards the cost optimisation and reduction of our carbon footprint. Another green technology initiative is the implementation of Managed Print Services that has reduced the paper usage significantly. The project is monitoring and tracking different types of printers, peripherals devices and consumables. Moreover, the security is enhanced since the printing of documents is linked to the user authentication either by using the company ID cards or fingerprints. By limiting the printing, it is reducing our carbon footprint. As a result of digital transformation through automating various systems and processes, ADMAOPCO is enhancing its services for its users and to ensure its conscious responsibility to sustain the environment while benefitting the company’s shortterm and long-term strategies. Can you give us the time scales behind the project(s) and the cost-factor involved for the implementation and maintenance? The project started four years back with transformation to the hybrid cloud with virtualisation to replace physical servers, ADMA-OPCO HAS RECENTLY ACHIEVED CERTIFICATION FOR ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. There is a general perception among most CIOs that IT is not adequately heard in toplevel executive management talks. What do you think about this school of thought? Technology changes often mean new ways of doing things. CIOs always encounter resistance to change. People are resentful towards the unknown; such a situation builds their urge to acquire the needed awareness and enjoy the new ride. They need to be engaged early so their attention can be captured and then convinced. CIOs are expected to play an empowerment role through providing the right strategy and tools for their organisation to stay vigilant, and to improve their presence as well as mark their position in the business world. Modern CIOs need to keep organisation goals such as cost and production optimisation in mind. www.intelligentcio.com
