In light of the new license, Awasr is building a robust and advanced dedicated network, capable of delivering high-speed fibre-optic Internet of up to 1 Gbps. This new license will now enable the operator to provide general fixed telephony services across the Sultanate. Mohamad el Madhoun, Commercial With the new TRA license, Awasr is committed to build a network infrastructure in Muscat and the northern region, including the governorates: Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi, in addition to the southern region, including Al Dakhiliya, Al Sharqiyah North, Al Sharqiyah South, Dhofar and Al Wusta. Awasr will also build an International Gateway to provide high-end international telecommunications services. Awasr officially launched its services early last month, in addition to announcing of pre-ordering 1Gbps service, becoming Oman’s first specialised broadband service provider.
