Apple invests T
in new green
data centres
he proposed facilities in County Galway,

have the lowest environmental impact yet
for an Apple data centre, the company said in a
statement in February.
Apple plans to invest €1.7bn in two
European data centres that will run on
100 per cent renewable energy.

“This significant new investment represents
Apple’s biggest project in Europe to date,” said
Apple chief executive Tim Cook. “We’re thrilled to
be expanding our operations, creating hundreds
of local jobs and introducing some of our most
advanced green building designs yet.”

begin operations in 2017 and run entirely on
