NEWS CRA and AICTO to embark on ITC collaboration T wo important technology bodies have met to discuss future co- operation in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). working under the aegis of the league of Arab States. It aims to develop ICT throughout the Arab region and provide the necessary mechanisms to support co-operation and complementary activity between AICTO members. It also aims to promote and enrich common policies and strategies to develop vital technological domains. His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), has met with the Engineer Mohamed Ben Amor, Secretary-General of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), to discuss aspects of future bilateral co- operation between the two organisations. The meeting comes in line with CRA’s aim to communicate with related Arab and international organisations, in order to exchange experiences and keep up with the latest developments in the field, which in turn will contribute to the development of Qatar’s ICT sector. AICTO is an Arab governmental organisation, headquartered in Tunis, the capital of the Republic of Tunisia, and is ////////////////// Campaign raises awareness of ICT benefits for the disabled The campaign has included posting various awareness messages and videos aimed at clarifying the positive impact of assistive technology as well as Information and Communications Technology. It has also reflected the accomplishments made by Mada in the educational sector by empowering 3,000 students with disabilities to access quality education through information technology as well as capability building for teachers and specialists. A Qatari organisation has launched a campaign to promote awareness of the importance of information technology and digital access for people with disabilities and the elderly. The Qatar Assistive Technology Center, Mada, has launched the campaign to 14 INTELLIGENTCIO promote the positive effects modern technology can have for some of society’s most ‘hard-to-reach’ groups. An emphasis has been placed on assistive technology and digital access in several key fields of life such as education, employment and community. In addition, the campaign highlights the importance of digital access in empowering and promoting a better lifestyle for Qatari citizens across different aspects of life which in itself contributes to realising the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
