How do you deal with
stress and unwind outside
the office?
I have a few toys in the ‘toybox’ . . . a couple of motorcycles for the
track and for the desert and I particularly enjoy scuba diving . . .
when I can get out of town.

If you could go back and
change a career decision,
what would it be?
Nothing really, I have enjoyed everything about working in
the tech sector.

What do you currently
identify as the major
areas of investment in
your industry?
There are too many to mention here in detail, but one that
stands out and is transforming an industry is the adoption of NFV
(Network Functions Virtualisation) in the telco sector.
We are very active here and NFV is going to transform the
landscape for operators and telco vendors alike!

What changes to your job
role have you seen in the
last year and how do you
see these developing in the
next 12 months?
Outside of leadership and day-to-day business management,
the pace of innovation in open-source software development is
staggering. It’s really important for me to stay up-to-date with
the many innovations that are being driven by open-source
communities around the world, as the output of these projects
will help our customers tackle their business challenges in an
increasingly effective manner.

What do you think is the
current hot technology
talking point?
Definitely container based application development and
microservices . . . these methodologies and tools are going to
reshape the industry.

as your most memorable
achievement?
My kids.

Are there any other upsides
to the job that you enjoy?
Definitely the international travel in (in first class
naturally!) and the opportunity to visit many countries and meet
interesting people from different cultures and backgrounds.

your industry?
It’s important to demonstrate the ability to build, lead and get
the best from a talented team of people. You are only as good
as the people around you and if you succeed in this task, you
succeed in business! n
