NEWS QATAR Commvault considers expansion in 2018 Commvault, a global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive and the cloud, is planning to expand in Qatar next year. Christian Laing, Vice President Sales, EMEA, Commvault, said: “We are right now planning to work on a plan to open an office in Qatar maybe next year. We don’t have an office there today but we are observing other countries like Qatar and in Africa.” “I am very close to the region and there is huge potential there. “We believe in investing for the long term. We are not going to cut and run as some other companies have done. We see the potential and we want to stick with it and grow that region.” Mark Jow, EMEA Vice President Technical Services, Commvault, said: “We have been successful in winning some very large strategic customers in the region. It’s a big area of investment for us and we recognise the sensitivities around Qatar currently which is why we are looking to base more staff there rather than facing the indirect travel route to support our customers. Es’hailSat to deliver Inmarsat L-band services in Qatar The landmark partnership is the first of its kind in Qatar, which consolidates all L-band service requirements for the country through Es’hailSat. The agreement is part of Es’hailSat’s planned expansion, designed to provide customers with access to the most flexible and reliable satellite connectivity services in the region. The addition of Inmarsat’s L-band service to Es’hailSat’s portfolio means that however remote the location or harsh the climatic conditions, customers will always stay connected. Es’hailSat has announced a new partnership with Inmarsat, which will see the Qatar-based communications satellite operator complement its existing portfolio of fixed Ku and Ka- band services with Inmarsat’s award winning L-band service. 10 INTELLIGENTCIO Paul Gudonis, President of Inmarsat Enterprise, said: “Es’hailSat has developed deep expertise around satellite and connectivity services since it was established in 2010, which makes them the ideal choice for our first formal distribution partner in Qatar. Having a direct partner on the ground will make it even easier for enterprise organisations and other communications service providers to access our industry-leading satellite connectivity services but with the added benefit of a more localised support offering.” www.intelligentcio.com
