PROJECT UPDATE LATEST REGIONAL PROJECT UPDATE EGYPT EGYPT An initial partnership agreement has been signed to develop a planned economic zone near the Suez Canal. Egypt’s General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone signed the partnership with UAE-based port operator DP World. It aims to create an integrated economic zone, including an industrial zone, in Egypt’s north-eastern port. QATAR Two new maritime lines have been launched at Hamad Port in Qatar. Both lines will run on a weekly basis. The first line starts in the Mediterranean and will be serviced by four ships, with a total capacity of 6,000 containers including 400 reefer containers. The second line has one ship with a capacity of 6,000 containers including 400 reefer containers. The ships on the first line will stop at ports in: Turkey, Greece, Oman, Qatar and India.
