INDUSTRY WATCH C an you describe your recent ICT project initiatives at Saudi Arabian Airlines and how they have better served as a business purpose? Eager to set its standing position amongst prestigious airlines in the region, we have launched two mobile applications this year, namely: Saudia Mobile Connection and Saudia Connect. Using Saudia Mobile Connection application, launched in January 2015, guests can book their flight, pay for their booking and issue the boarding pass prior to their travel. Once information is entered the first time, they are kept on the device, saving the guest’s time and efforts for subsequent future trips. Guest’s bookings are kept as well on the device with a possibility to share them through the most popular social media applications. The guest’s boarding pass can be saved in the phone’s passbook or wallet. Saudia culture and heritage as a flag carrier was preserved within the app features by introducing the Hijri calendar, which is widely used in Saudi Arabia. Also, Saudia’s identity as a flag carrier was preserved by using the distinctive desert theme throughout all the app pages, reflecting the Saudia’s native Arabian hospitality and environment. Saudia Connect, which was also launched in January 2015, permits Saudia guests on First and Business classes on selected flights to receive their promo Wi-Fi Internet code by scanning the boarding pass making it the first airline in the world to implement such technique and benefit from the mobile technology advances. SV Insight provides the airline with the most up to-date view of key performance metrics, bringing timely and relevant information to many business divisions throughout the airline to help them make better-informed decisions. Since its first launch, this platform has delivered unprecedented business visibility of the airlines’ performance, KPIs for C-Level executives and all management levels, including operational management.
