Another GITEX has come and gone.
It was a flurry of all things CIO - the
rapid emergence of IoT, the continued
transformation to more cloud
applications and the rise of BYOD and
its many security implications.
We’ve delved into some security issues
this month as this topic continues
to dominate discussions across
these emerging technologies. For
some, the slower pace of technology
implmentation can often alleviate
continued security grievances.
One of our core features this month
deals with another service trend
that has seen mixed reviews - with
added security proposals coming
from providers, managed services is
picking up pace. For any enterprise, the
question arises - can I afford not to

outsource certain services?
Another topic of particular notice this
month is the discussion of locality - is
having an office on-the-ground in the
region the same thing as having ‘local
presence’?
For some businesses, one first will
equate to the second; for others, this
has been a hard lesson learnt.
Speaking of local presence, Intelligent
CIO will be introducing a fast-paced
events schedule for 2016 across the
Gulf, most notably the Intelligent CIO
Awards, which will be held in Dubai in
June.
