Nokia has announced a three-year deal with Ooredoo Qatar to expand its mobile network
across the whole country. The deal builds on an existing relationship through which Nokia has
provided LTE-A carrier aggregation technology for Doha, delivering a maximum of 375 Mbps
mobile broadband download speeds. The expansion deal covers the full spectrum of mobile
technologies from 2G to LTE-A, with the resulting network marketed under Ooredoo’s Supernet
brand.

A project that helps start-ups become established businesses has been launched in Dubai. His Highness
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), launched the
Dubai Smart City Accelerator, the first of its kind in the MENA region, within DSOA’s wholly owned Dubai
Technology Entrepreneur Centre (Dtec). His Highness also launched the accelerator’s portal to enable
interested start-ups to apply. The accelerator programme, based on smart city technology, is targeting
start-ups developing innovative solutions to help make cities smarter and overcome congestion, waste, and
energy challenges.
