Last year, ICT giant Cisco Systems released the results
of a survey of over 1,000 business executives on cyber
security’s role in the larger corporate ecosystem. A vast
majority – 74%– indicated that they see cyber security’s
main purpose as to reduce risk, instead of to enable
growth. This outlook is all too common. Many executives
today view investments into cyber security as costly,
complex, and maybe even a damper on productivity,
