A DAY IN THE LIFE

GET TO KNOW ...

On the lighter side of things , we ask the industryexperts what makes them tick …
Christopher Green , Regional Director , Middle East , Africa and Turkey , Malwarebytes
What would you describe as your most memorable achievement ? Well , I did score my first official hat-trick two seasons back , but all joking aside , there ’ s been a few sales achievement awards and record quarters over the years , but one thing that I am very proud of is the employee engagement score ’ s during my time managing Westcon Group Security Practice , which were always above industry average . We had a fantastic team .
What first made you think of a career in technology ? It was never on the horizon after studying Accounting at university , but after returning to the UK from a year out travelling around Australia , finance wasn ’ t that appealing . A close family friend suggested I go for a Sales Executive role at Avnet Technology Solutions and my destiny moved away from finance and into IT where I have never looked back .
What style of management philosophy do you employ with your current position ? As Channel Director for Malwarebytes , my focus is on building the team across the META region and the philosophy I use is one of flexibility , drive and doing the right things quickly . We will be successful as long as we put the effort in and we will have fun along the way .
What do you think will be the hot technology talking point of 2017 ? Ransomware continues to evolve and become a serious threat to organisations today . As widespread as the attacks were in 2016 , they were largely opportunistic . 2017 will see these attacks increase even further with more deliberate and targeted attacks . Enterprises will need to adopt layered security approach across all endpoints and mobile devices with a comprehensive defence .
How do you deal with stress and unwind outside of the office ? A lot of time with the family ; our two young sons keep us very busy . I manage a local Amateur Vets football team in Dubai and still get an odd game here and there .
If you could go back and change one career decision , what would it be ? I don ’ t regret any of the career decisions I have made ; both Avnet and Westcon were great companies to work for . Malwarebytes has been superb so far and the future is very bright . There ’ s a few situations I think I could of handled better in my early management days , but as long as you learn from them you will always end up in better position .
