INDUSTRY WATCH IN ADDITION, WE HAVE ALSO INTRODUCED THE FINGERPRINT SERVICE FOR VERIFICATION, WHICH HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN ASSISTING A JUDGE WITH CLARIFYING ANY POSSIBLE CONFUSION WITH THOSE INVOLVED WITH A CASE. THIS SERVICE HELPS TO REINFORCE THE INFORMATION WE ALREADY HAVE ON OUR NATIONAL INFORMATION CENTRE (NIC), WHICH INCLUDES THE STANDARD DETAILS OF OUR CITIZENS wishes to check their status in the Kingdom (from their home country), or to clarify ownership of something within the Kingdom, he or she can seek clarification remotely through the new portal. In addition, we have also introduced the fingerprint service for verification, which has been instrumental in assisting a judge with clarifying any possible confusion with those involved with a case. This service helps to reinforce the information we already have on our National Information Centre (NIC), which includes the standard details of our citizens. Through other IT implementations and in coordination with institutions such as banks, we can empower our judges to oversee cases such as those involved with fines, wherein the judge can enact an order to enter the bank account and freeze it, until the matter has been resolved and any monies owed have been consolidated. www.intelligentcio.com Another service that has been introduced through the use of advanced technology adoption, is remote litigation. This enables a defendant, who may be detained in a location out of reach from the courthouse, to join the session in realtime and speak with the judge from this remote location. This removes the stress to the defendant and allows the process to be carried out more expediently. Of course, the defendant has the right to request that he be physically brought to the courthouse and to the judge. A solid and reliable IT infrastructure is what enables us to introduce these services to better administer the services of the Ministry. It is our hope that continued IT implementation will offer more services, not just to the public, but also to the employees of the Ministries who carry out this important work. Can you please describe how IT implementations within the Ministry will help contribute to elements of the ‘Vision 2030’? INTELLIGENTCIO 73
