Nedaa awarded Dubai Parks and
Resorts’ wireless project
Professional Communication
Corporation, Nedaa, a government
corporation specialising in
the deployment of wireless
communications technologies for
Dubai and the Northern Emirates, has
been officially named as the provider
of integrated wireless communications
for Dubai Parks and Resorts.
Under the terms of the contract,
Nedaa will procure all the necessary
devices and equipment to install
an advanced and flexible wireless
communications system for the
destination. This includes 1,000
Airbus wireless devices, a fully
integrated Terrestrial Trunked
Radio (TETRA) professional mobile
radio network, and an internal
communications network which will
support connectivity within and
outside the destination’s buildings.
Nedaa has revealed that the project
will be carried out in collaboration
with its technology partner, Esharah
Etisalat Security Solutions, which
will assign a team of engineers and
technicians to provide full support
and training on the new networks.
Dubai Parks and Resorts is expected
to attract 6.7 million visits during its
first full year of operation. The high
projected footfall will require reliable
coordination and collaboration among
team members and between staff and
the public throughout the property to
ensure incident-free operations.
Prior to the destination’s opening,
Nedaa will carry out a full
manoeuvre-based testing procedure
in order to assess the reliability
of the pre-defined emergency
communications plan. It will
also evaluate the smooth flow
of information and data in daily
operations in order to ensure the
public’s safety and offer visitors a
safe and comfortable environment.
Dubai unveils its first
cognitive computing
service
The Smart Dubai Office, the Smart Dubai Government
Establishment and the Department of Economic
Development, in collaboration with IBM, have launched the
city’s first cognitive computing service to facilitate business
licensing and registration in Dubai. The service, which was
unveiled in a press conference at the Dubai Media Office,
delivers on the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to work together for the future of
Dubai, and to make Dubai the happiest city on earth, fuelled
by smart technology. The new service, named Saad, is now
available on the DED website and the DubaiNow app.
Powered by IBM’s cognitive computing system, “Watson”,
Saad is able to understand natural language; rapidly analyse
and verify massive data stores; interpret data; and provide
solutions that will aid users in deciding on correct courses
of action. Watson represents a new era in computing called
cognitive computing, where systems understand the world the

way humans do: through senses, learning, and experience.
Watson continuously learns from previous interactions,
gaining in value and knowledge over time.
For its pilot deployment, Saad has been trained to respond
to business licensing and registration queries from local or
international entrepreneurs, business owners or investors
interested in starting a business in Dubai.
