ID Global®, a worldwide leader in trusted
identity solutions, has announced that
a government department in the Middle
East has selected the company’s FARGO®
DTC4500 and FARGO® HDP8500 card
printers/encoders to meet its requirement
for secure ID card issuance. The government
department manages the issuance of ID
cards for residents and non-residents, as well
as issuance of vehicle registration IDs.
The department chose HID Global for
its proven reliability and durable ID card
printers/encoders to launch a robust and
secure card issuance solution to provide
high-quality ID cards.
In order to issue a large number of vehicle
registration ID cards, drivers licences, and
resident and non-resident ID cards at its
various locations in a short period of time, the
department was looking for a cost-effective,
yet secure card issuance solution. There
were a number selection criteria for the new
solution such as its ability to: securely print
high quality cards in a short period of time;
improve customer service and satisfaction;
and quickly issue a large volume of ID cards.

CT minister Yasser ElKady has met
with representatives from Egyptian
technology start-up companies. The
minister received a delegation from the
General Division of the Digital Economy
and Technology of the Federation of
Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.

driverless cars, health and security.
The group included the representatives
of nine Egyptian start-ups that are due
to participate as exhibitors in the first
Egyptian pavilion at the Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) which was held in
the USA on January 9. Also represented were: Blank Ap which
specialises in high speed computing
via mobiles; BioBusiness, a specialist
in the field of the Internet of Things,
especially for medical devices; DreamSoft
which specialises in developing the
applications of participatory economics
and digitisation of logistics; and Veditori
which is specialises in assistive technology
for visual impairment.
ElKady highlighted the state’s interest in
empowering young people in ICT so Egypt
can become a regional hub for technology.
The nine start-ups delivered presentations,
including AvidBeam which specialises in The ICT Minister discussed with company
representatives, the technological
solutions presented, their business models
and how the state could benefit from the
