PROJECT UPDATE UAE The Maryah Residential Tower is a 38-storey development located at Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi. The project responds to the different conditions on each side of the plot, by slightly turning towards the widest view angles. The volume will utilise the site`s attributes and create an exciting sensation to the users. The internal qualities are reflected on the exterior and will provide an attractive residential environment without visual disturbance to its surroundings. The lower podium is ‘cut’ diagonally with a grand triangular staircase in order to connect the promenade with the main street levels. This will benefit not only the urban perspective but the retail areas and give the building lots of memorable visual interest and character. OMAN There are plans to expand Salalah Airport, the second largest airport in Oman. This involves upgrading it from primarily being a domestic airport to making it more suitable for international travellers, including building a new runway long enough to handle the latest aircraft in the world, including the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the A380 Airbus. A new terminal will improve the airport’s capacity to one million passengers annually. The airport has been designed to allow for further expansions to cater for future growth when demand is required. www.intelligentcio.com INTELLIGENTCIO 33
