NEWS QDB launches Al Fikra business competition T he Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has launched the sixth edition of its National Business Competition named Al Fikra. This has the aim of supporting Qatari entrepreneurs and nurturing their creative ideas. Al Fikra is an educational initiative to develop entrepreneurs in Qatar, including those working in ICT, through workshops aimed at developing their business ideas into successful projects. The competition also aims to encourage entrepreneurs to establish new companies and promote a culture of entrepreneurship in Qatar, while marking a major milestone in their own careers by empowering them to form partnerships with investment institutions, banks and strategic partners. The competition’s official partners include Ooredoo and Sasol and it is supported by Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar. Hamad Al Kubaisi, Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at QDB, said: “The launch of the sixth edition of Al Fikra Competition comes in the context of our strong commitment to support and develop the national economy and contribute to the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030, by empowering entrepreneurs and SME owners, developing their capacity, and providing them with the support they need to establish a foothold in the Qatari market and develop their businesses.” ////////////////// GRSIA launches platform to keep up with e-Govt Strategy T he General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA) has launched an integrated e-platform, including a smart app, digital portal and a website with a new interface. The platform is aligned with the Qatar e-Government Strategy 2020 and it supports its directives aimed at making the information revolution part of daily life. suggestions as users can now send their enquiries directly to the relevant entity. Al-Malki added that the platform is the second portal of its kind, noting that GRSIA launched its first portal for business entities last March to allow such organisations to access e-services. As part of this GRSIA is seeking to provide the highest level possible of services through its digital transactions. Mohammed al-Malki, Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at GRSIA, said that the e-platform will allow visitors to complete their transactions in minutes and provide them with a variety of services. He explained that the new website offers users a comprehensive introduction about the retirement system with its civil and military elements. It also provides users with information about the transactions and activities of GRSIA.
