FEATURE: LTE NETWORKS THE FIRST STEP IN IMPLEMENTING A SUCCESSFUL BC/DR PLAN IS EVALUATION – ORGANISATIONS NEED TO CONDUCT A THOROUGH RISK ASSESSMENT OF THE ENTIRE IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND ALL SERVICES THAT SUPPORT BUSINESS CRITICAL APPLICATIONS just combines voice communication with broadband capability but also offers enhanced speed over traditional technologies. Public safety organizations have traditionally used systems such as Project 25 and TETRA for their missioncritical voice communication needs. However, these systems do not offer broadband capability. The traditional technologies have mission critical voice, push-to-talk to give fast response to voice but have very limited capability for data. But now data communication is a prerequisite, for instance for surveillance, which cannot be supported by only voice. Public safety agencies in the Middle East region are fast realising that mobile broadband can literally make the difference between life and death in a disaster situation. Further, an increasing demand for a safe environment in the region demands a secure and a proactive public safety system.
