KEEPING IS NOT
ESSENTIAL IT’S VITAL
Some might be lulled in to a false belief that ‘in the
grand scheme of things’, there are far bigger issues than
cabling when it comes to either building or maintaining
the smooth operation of a modern data centre,
however, it’s important to remember the old adage that
“you are only as strong as your weakest link” or in this
case ‘cable’, writes Steve Hone CEO, DCA.

A
s a rule, any server must have
unrestricted airflow both in and
out to maximise performance
and prevent overheating. When you
consolidate those same servers into a
42Urack it’s even more important to
ensure airflow is unrestricted and poor
cabling is often the problem.
Let me put some context to this
statement- shut your eyes and picture just
for a minute your perfect data centre and
try to envisage just how much time was
spent in planning and designing what
you are absolutely confident will be a data
centre which will meet the needs of both
your business and or your customers’
needs for years to come.
Think about how excited you were when
