NEWS T-Mobile has launched the first 5G network in Poland T -Mobile Polska has launched the first fully functional fifth generation mobile network in Poland – its coverage is currently available in the centre of Warsaw. T-Mobile commits itself to investing in and continuing development of the 5G network in the coming months and years, extending it to more locations and cities so it ultimately covers the entire country. the event and T-Mobile was represented not only by the CEO of T-Mobile Polska, Andreas Maierhofer, but also Chairman of the Management Board of DT Group, Tim Hoettges, as well as Srini Gopalan, Management Board Member for Europe at Deutsche Telekom AG. The launch of the 5G network is a continuation of the declaration made a year ago by Tim Hoettges, who announced that Poland is one of the key markets for the DT Group and one of the first countries in Europe that will take advantage of the fifth generation network from T-Mobile. On December 7 in Warsaw at the #5G_LAB centre, the Minister of Digital Affairs and the representatives of T-Mobile inaugurated the launch of the 5G T-Mobile network, the first fifth generation network in Poland. Devices providing access to the network have been distributed to selected T-Mobile partners, so they can be used in order to develop new business solutions and products, which will eventually be offered on the mass market. Marek Zagórski, the Minister of Digital Affairs, represented the state authorities at ////////////////// Two Polish FinTechs to offer banking and payment solutions globally B raintri and iCompass, two leading Polish FinTechs servicing the world’s largest banks and payment institutions, have begun to merge and prepare a joint offer for the global financial sector. As Poland is a leader in mobile banking, Polish FinTechs contribute immensely to the global financial innovation. Braintri and iCompass each has an impressive track record of market achievements. The merger will enable the two to further expand their products and reach out to foreign markets. Until the completion of the merger, both teams will operate under their existing brands. The plan is to rebrand. Braintri is involved in the development of mobile banking apps for the largest Polish banks, including the FTSE large cap banking giant, PKO BP, and the innovation pioneer, mBank. It helped establish Poland’s non-card payment standard, BLIK, now being used by 94% of the country’s population. iCompass provides software for major European banks, as well as for global payment organisations, including Mastercard Payment Transaction Services. The company is a technology provider for the first Polish mPOS platform, and the developer of the universal payment gateway, Octopus Payment Hub. “The partnership is a step forward in Braintri’s strategy to enter global markets,” said Wojciech Zatorski, Braintri’s COO. Following its merger with iCompass, Braintri will focus on three main product lines: mobile applications, Big Data solutions and payments.
