IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS | LATEST INTELLIGENCE | REGIONAL IMPLEMENTATIONS EDITOR’S NOTE W elcome to the first ever edition of Intelligent CIO Europe. We are delighted to launch a brand new Information Technology magazine focusing on how the latest innovations are shaping Europe as countries embark on their digital transformation journeys. To launch the magazine, our first cover story focuses on a Tintri solution adopted by XtraDesktop. Tintri provided XtraDesktop with a scalable solution to assist the company in improving its Desktop-as-a-Service offering. The partnership has proven to be successful as it has allowed XtraDesktop to work more efficiently, enabling it to predict capacity requirements for upcoming projects. The customer was confident that Tintri would be the right vendor for its requirements because of the company’s flexibility as a solution provider. We further explore customer satisfaction in one of our case studies where an NHS trust in the UK utilised security solutions offered by McAfee. County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust found that it was able to manage patient data more securely and develop an improved awareness of information entering and exiting its data platforms by using McAfee’s solution. As a www.intelligentcio.com result, the trust was extremely satisfied with the outcome of the partnership. Data protection or, more specifically, the use of biometrics, is the focus of our ‘Editor’s Question’ for this month. The question posed to CIOs was: ‘What advancements for biometric security do you predict for 2018?’ We bring you three responses from CIOs from BeyondTrust, Aeriandi and Intercede. Morey J Haber from BeyondTrust believes that biometrics can be used for authentication and authorisation purposes when the two operate individually. Tom Harwood from Aeriandi said voice biometrics is an area that will thrive in 2018, allowing companies to identify a call hacker’s voice. While Richard Parris from Intercede said that we are all likely to notice a change in how existing operating system providers will look more towards safeguarding core authentication systems. To round off our first edition, our ‘Get To Know’ feature sees Stephen Moore, Chief Security Strategist at Exabeam, tell us about his management techniques and he also lets us in on how he likes to unwind outside the office. I hope you enjoy the inaugural edition of the magazine and if you are interested in contributing to any future issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at: [email protected].
