ANGOLA CABLES INTO SDN
Expansion from Africa centric activities into global
connectivity services has prompted Angola Cables to
partner with Ciena. By Arun Shankar

A
ngola Cables is a multinational telecommunication
company operating in the wholesale market and
engaged in the exploration and marketing of
international voice and data circuit capacity, through its
submarine cable systems. Established in 2009, the company
manages the Angolan participation in the West Africa Cable
System, launched in 2012. The demand for international
connectivity continues to grow, and so does the need for
Angola Cable’s customers to easily manage and allocate data
to their end users.

Angola Cables sells international point-to-point dedicated
circuits, both in its own connectivity network and by using

partner infrastructures. This allows interconnection at an
international level, ensuring a continuous connectivity. The result
is a secure service quality which meets the customer’s needs.
Global and African connectivity
Angola Cables has got four distinct services: Colocation,
IP Transit, Circuits and Angonix. The diversification of new
products and services is part of the future guaranteed by
technology, where they are supported by the implementation
of new subsea systems.
Through its Angonap data centre, Angola Cables provides
colocation services to businesses from various sectors and
industries. Angonap is a neutral data centre located in Luanda
and it is the traffic exchange point in Angola.
Angola Cables also manages Angonix, the Internet Exchange
Point in Angola, where operators and suppliers of national
and international content exchange information and data.
