jibouti Data Center has announced
that Expresso Telecom Group
(ETG) has selected it to become a
strategic hub and peering point for regional
connectivity to Africa, the Middle East and
Asia Pacific regions.
ETG, a leading African mobile network
operator, offers a wide range of mobile voice
and data solutions, as well as supporting
extensive wholesale and carrier relations. As
part of the Sudatel Telecom Group (STG),
Expresso Telecom currently operates network
and serves customers in Senegal, Sudan,
Mauritania and Guinea, as well as other
territories in Africa.
“Our new Point of Presence in the DDC is
a significant element in our pan-African
network development plan,” said J. P. Bagiire,
Director Wholesale and Carrier Relations for
Expresso Telecom Group said.
“Expresso is dedicated to innovation and
improving the quality of services we provide
to our customers, including our Group
Operating Companies. The cooperation with
the DDC is a key component in our network
and wholesale footprint expansion, which
is part of our ongoing service commitment
to our customers to provide market leading
international and regional network access
and connectivity in the African and Middle
East regions.”
Anthony Voscarides, CEO of the Djibouti
Data Center added: “We are very pleased
to have Expresso Telecom join the DDC and
DjIX ecosystem in order to optimise their
network coverage in Africa and the Middle
East, and to further enable the development
and introduction of new services.
“The carrier neutral DDC and Djibouti
Internet Exchange (DjIX) are uniquely
positioned directly adjacent to Djibouti
Telecom’s cable landing stations and
offer a combined capability to provide
collocation, international fibre cable access,
cable head cross connect and backhaul
services, along with open access to Internet
peering partners.
“This will help Expresso reduce network
latency, improve network resilience and better
serve their customers and their rapidly growing
end-user communities across the region.” n
