Moments To Remember
INTEGRAL CARE AND NAMI AUSTIN
In September 2015, Integral Care joined NAMI Austin and
hundreds of participants to celebrate the 13th anniversary of
NAMIWalks and increase mental health awareness. The Integral
Care Incredibles – staff, partners, children and pets – walked the
5K from the Long Center to the Capitol and back to improve our
community’s mental health one step at a time.
In May 2016, NAMI Austin recognized Integral Care’s Mobile Crisis
Outreach Team’s (MCOT) outstanding work to create and promote
a safer community for people living with mental illness by
awarding them the John & Kitty Holman Award.
2016 NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONFERENCE
Integral Care was honored to join other mental health and
substance use treatment leaders at the 2016 National Council
for Behavioral Health Conference. Twelve staff members from
adult behavioral health and crisis services presented on Medicaid
reform, mental health and criminal justice, chronic disease
management, tobacco cessation, integrated care and mobile crisis
services.
SOUTH TEXAS FAMILY SUPPORT CONFERENCE
Integral Care hosted the 22nd Annual South Texas Family Support
Conference (STFSC) in July 2016. STFSC is the only bilingual
conference designed to enhance knowledge of mental health
services, identify resources and support systems for consumers
and families in South Texas, and heighten awareness of mental
illness and developmental disabilities. Representatives from
Laredo, Corpus Christi, Harlingen, Brownsville, Kerrville, Beeville
and Austin attended the conference. The conference keynote
speakers and workshops focused on chronic disease management,
the myths and realities about bipolar disorder, suicide rates
among the Latina population and how to advocate for children’s
mental health needs.
