M.C. Escher, self-proclaimed to be neither an artist nor a mathematician! Escher's art is inescapably mathematical and was famously brought to artistic light in his lithographs of birds, fish and reptiles and his Metamorphosis series.

Escher also extended his work to spherical geometry!
