Example #3: Geometric Wave 2
If you have 15 min to spare, this YouTube video outlines the amazing metamorphosis from circles to waves!
Here is a brief overview:
1. Using a compass and a ruler, draw overlapping circles. The circles should overlap through the centres of adjacent circles.
2. Meticulously continue until the entire paper is covered in overlapping circles.
3. Using the compass again,
> “trace” a semi-circular line clockwise from the top of one circle; the semi-circle should be ⅓ the circumference of the circle.
> From this endpoint, “trace” another semi-circular line counter-clockwise for a length of ⅓ the circumference of the circle.
> Repeat this process exactly, “tracing” four more semi-circles, clockwise, counter-clockwise, clockwise, counter-clockwise. The resulting shape is a geometric wave!
