Noa Yee was the featured speaker
at a recent Straub Donor Brunch.
Noa is an aspiring physician with
a patient story of his own that he
remembers every time he treats
people. During his senior year at
Tufts University, Noa contracted
a bacterial infection that eventu-
ally sent him into emergency surgery at Straub Medical Center. He
underwent eight procedures before completely recovering. Noa
credits Straub for saving his life and confirming his desire to be a
doctor in Hawai‘i. Hawai‘i Pacific Health helped him get his start in
its Summer Student Research Program (SSRP). SSRP is an eight-
week program that provides college undergraduates with a unique
opportunity for mentorship by physicians as well as a backstage
pass to medicine and hands-on experience in clinical research.
Straub relies on donations to help fund programs and services in
support of Straub’s mission to create a healthier Hawai‘i. In recog-
nition of one of the most successful fundraising years for Straub,
the foundation held a brunch to thank supporters, show them how
donations have been used and share the possibilities with contin-
ued support.
