IN HONOR OF BREAST RECONSTRUCTION AWARENESS DAY
in October, Pali Momi Medical Center invited breast cancer survivors
for an evening of yoga and special wellness activities that included
massages and facials. BRA Day supports women through their fight
with breast cancer, which is the most common cancer diagnosed in
women in the United States. Breast reconstruction can be one of the
steps in the healing process. Unfortunately, one in five women who
do not have breast reconstruction did not know about the procedure
or that it is typically covered by insurance. The Pali Momi Women’s
Center team wants to embrace survivors on their road to recovery and
help them learn about available options. Proceeds from this event
went to support the Women’s Center Fund for the purchase of patient
outreach materials, medical equipment and programs that help
provide the highest level of care for women in our community.
