The people of Kaua ‘ i can thank the donors of the Greenbaum Community Challenge for funding the island ’ s first Blood Product Irradiator . This state-of-the-art equipment can produce irradiated blood product in a moment ’ s notice at Wilcox Medical Center . Ken and Betsy Greenbaum kick-started the campaign in honor of their wedding anniversary . The couple celebrated “ 60 years of togetherness ” by donating $ 60,000 to the Wilcox Health Foundation . Individuals and businesses joined the Greenbaum Community Challenge to ensure that generations of families on Kaua ‘ i would have this lifesaving technology . Wilcox Medical Center is humbled by this outpouring of support . Every donation truly made a difference !
