Inspire Magazine Spring 2017 - Page 5

MESSAGE FROM THE SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT TOM MUNDELL Aloha from the Foundations of Hawai`i Pacific Health If I could capture the feeling our staff shares with me on a daily basis, it is one of gratitude. We are always moved by the generosity of our donors across the four foundations at Hawai`i Pacific Health. Whether someone had a baby at Kapi`olani Medical Center for Women & Children, was treated for cancer at Pali Momi Medical Center, needed heart surgery at Straub Medical Center or was taken to the emergency department at Wilcox Medical Center, the relationships built with our medical centers have led many families to donate to our care. It is an honor and privilege to follow the great work our physicians and caregivers compassionately provide to our wonderful communities every day. Annual gifts, large and small, add up to great things in our health care system. Donors often share their stories with us to give meaning to their motivation. It’s something we personally embrace because we understand what was involved in their medical test, hospital visit or procedure. As you’ll see in this special edition of Inspire that includes our annual report, each of our foundations has a fundraising project that adds to the signature care of its respective medical center. New technology, expanded services, renovations and upgrades all come at a cost that our medical centers are committed to. We hope this magazine will show just how we, and you, invest back into our not-for-profit medical centers. Our efforts and your annual gift make extraordinary care possible. We never underestimate the value and trust you place on your gifts. Some donors put money aside, others ask friends to make a gift in their honor of their birthday or special occasion, and then there are those whose passion for health care can be visionary and transformational. Whatever you have chosen to give, for whatever reason, we are honored to be the recipient of your thoughtful support. We hope to inspire you to continue to make an impact through your gifts. Sincerely, Tom Mundell Senior Vice President, Philanthropy 5
