STRAUB MEDICAL CENTER HAS BEEN A LEADER IN PATIENT-CENTERED CARE IN HAWAI`I FOR ALMOST 100 YEARS . NOW , THE CENTER IS BEING RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE TOP IN THE COUNTRY .
In 2016 , Straub Medical Center was the only hospital in the state to receive a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services . Out of 4,200 acute care hospitals in the nation , only two percent of all hospitals , 87 in total , received this great distinction .
“ We are very proud to have this distinction , as it is a reflection of the high quality care that patients receive at Straub ,” said Art Gladstone , CEO of Straub Medical Center and Pali Momi Medical Center . “ This recognition is a testament to our amazing staff and how they strive to provide exceptional care and the highest quality patient experience .”
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ) bases its ratings on 64 measures covering everything from readmission rates and patient experience feedback to the effective use of medical imaging . CMS first released the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating last July to help people easily check the quality of hospitals in their area .
The CMS Five-Star Rating is only one of several national accolades for Straub Medical Center . The medical center received an " A " grade through the new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades , which compares hospitals on standards of safety , quality and efficiency . Straub has been awarded straight “ A ’ s ” since 2013 and is one of only 113 hospitals out of over 2,600 across the country to attain this honor . Additionally Straub is rated in the top 5 percent for patient experience by Healthgrades , which provides information about physicians , hospitals and health care providers to more than 30 million monthly visitors to its website .

Straub currently has more than 400 employed or contracted physicians and an outstanding group of nurses , therapists , volunteers and others , striving to provide exceptional care and the highest-quality experience to every patient , every day . Straub offers services in more than 32 different medical specialties , and is home to the Pacific ’ s only multi-disciplinary burn treatment center .
