INSPIRING KAHIAU GIVING CAMPAIGN at ASB employees enjoying their Harry Potter theme campaign. American Savings Bank (ASB) in 2018. The Harry Potter theme inspired 94 percent of their employees to participate. The annual team- mate giving program raises funds to support select not-for-profit organizations in Hawai‘i. In Hawaiian, kahiau means "to give from the heart without expecting anything in return" and embodies the selfless generosity of ASB’s teammates. This year, they raised more than $71,000 for Child Life and the Beads of Courage program at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. ASB employees also support Kapi‘olani year-round by volunteering at the Radiothon for Kids, decorating Santa’s Workshop during the holidays and by crafting favors for the hospital prom. We are so grateful for this partnership! World-Class Course, Kapi‘olani Medical Center Invitational THE THIRD ANNUAL KAPI‘OLANI MEDICAL CENTER INVITATIONAL drew golf players and golf fans alike to the Big Island for a chance to play on one of the most exclu- sive golf courses in the world. The Nanea Golf Club rarely hosts charity tournaments, but in April, tournament chair Ritchie Mudd led 36 teams through a course that weaves through lava rock and tropical nature. “We need to help Kapi‘olani to continue to serve as the premier provider of care for Hawai‘i’s children,” Mudd told golfers. Special thanks to Board Chair J.B. McIntosh and Nanea Golf Club General Manager Jim Saunders. Without them this event would not be possible! Kapi‘olani is also extremely grateful for event sponsors WIZARDS AND WONDER CREATED AN Kahiau Campaign, American Savings Bank D. Suehiro Electric and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
