I t’s back once again: the Anniston Rotary’s “Dancing With Our Stars” returns March 8 at the Anniston High School Performing Arts Center at 6:30. Eleven couples will be performing this year, tangoing, waltzing and otherwise shakin’ it into the spotlight for a chance to take one of three awards: Juried Award: Given to the couple that performs the most proficient pirouettes, the most gratifying gyrations, the winners of this award will be determined by a professional panel of judges selected prior to the event. our dancers Audience Choice Award: Not to be outdone by any panels or committees, audience members can cast votes for their favorite couples throughout the evening and taking control of which couple will really be the stars of the night. Community Choice Award: The community, as in folks who aren’t able to attend the show (and even those that do!) can still cheer on their favorite couple by casting a vote for them from the Dancing Dancing With Our Stars has a fantastic lineup of local celebrities, personalities and other community leaders this year, including some returning favorites. Couple 1 Couple 2 STAR: Alex Casey DANCER: Almena Free STAR: Joe Howell DANCER: Amber Harris Dr. Alex Casey opened Oxford’s Casey Chiropractic in 2013, where he treats personal injuries. He graduated from the Donoho School in 2001 and played college football at the University of West Georgia. Dr. Joe Howell is a clinical psychologist who works in Anniston, has written two books and founded the Founder of The Institute for Conscious Being, an organization that focuses on raising consciousness and preventing psychological pain and suffering. Dr. Almena Free has an internal medicine practice at Anniston Medical Clinic, and spends her free time dancing, biking, swimming and hiking. INSIGHT Amber Harris is a licensed Zumba instructor who is training to become a ballroom dance teacher. February 2014 45
