BRIGHTON JUNIOR GOLF
LAUNCHES
SNOWDOGS BY THE SEA AUCTION
IS A RUNAWAY SUCCESS
This month will see the launch of Brighton Junior Golf, a brand
new venture owned and run by PGA Golf Professionals, Neil
Plimmer and Nevil Perryman Best. Neil and Nevil are passionate
and dedicated coaches of children and aim to provide every child
in Brighton and Hove the opportunity to play, learn and compete.
Last autumn, 44 giant ‘snowdog’ sculptures painted by talented
artists and celebrities were part of ‘Snowdogs by the Sea’ – a public
art trail taking trail-goers on a magical tour of Brighton and Hove.
Hundreds of thousands of people tracked the snowdogs on the
trail, and more than 400 people an hour flocked to say goodbye at
their farewell event last month.
For the past two years, they have been delivering a very successful
programme at a busy family golf centre in Mid Sussex, regularly
engaging with over 100 children and their families each week. The
offer to be based at Hollingbury Park Golf Course and Waterhall
Golf Course was too good to turn down and they are now ready to
offer children and families the same experiences in Brighton.
From January, coaching, playing and competition opportunities
will be offered at Hollingbury and Waterhall for children and for the
whole family. More info at www.brightonjuniorgolf.co.uk.
On December 6th, at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, the beautiful
sculptures went under the hammer. The sellout auction was
expertly hosted by acclaimed auctioneer, Tim Wonnacott, with
bidding hitting the incredible heights of £22,000 for Snowdog
Max, who was the top dog of the night. An emotional and nerve
racking evening, Tim did an expert job working the bidders into
a frenzy and helping to raise an astounding £337,900, which will
make a huge difference to Martlets Hospice, who teamed up with
Wild in Art, to stage the extraordinary public art trail.
PATTERNS ANNOUNCE BRILLIANT 2017 MUSIC PROGRAMME
Giving us some reasons to be cheerful,
Brighton venue, Patterns, have announced a
hefty music programme for 2017, including
Pender Street Steppers and Derrick Carter
in the club, as well as Boxed In and FenechSoler among the live highlights at the venue.
2017 will see the introduction of a new
series of quarterly Saturdays with Avalon
Emerson (first date, Saturday January 21st),
and Bradley Zero (starts Saturday March 4th),
who will each host four nights a year.
Kicking off 2017 with two parties over the
first weekend of January, the venue is going
back to basics to celebrate their residents, as
well as using the opportunity to introduce
some new faces for 2017. New blood

Detroit and Chicago house records, 80's
Japanese music, jazz, and ambient music
into the mix.
