The Maserati looks fast when driving through town at 30mph, indeed it even looks speedy when parked. But then it's never about other people think, the best thing is how it makes you yourself feel. Winding up a Maserati Ghibli with its 275bhp 3-litre V6 diesel engine (built in collaboration with Ferrari, no less) incorporated with the Maserati Active Sound System which is designed to enhanced the engine's most attractive sounds (as a car-noise worshipper, I cannot express my love for this concept adequately enough!) creates a gut-wrenching, grin-inducing, polyphonic symphony of joyous engine noise that you have to hear at 80 least once in your life. I’m not kidding, put it on your bucket list! Whilst this magnificent motor melody is played out you can enjoy the experience of roaring from 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, as well as marvelling hypothetically at the top speed of 155mph (restricted). The ride in the Ghibli is very comfortable indeed and you could serenely cruise about feeling at peace with the world and hardly realise you are moving. However, when the car is in sport mode and the amazing Skyhook system is engaged (Skyhook being an active suspension management device that tries to keep the car as level as possible by individually, continuously adjusting the height of each Roaring magnificently like a proud lion, the Ghibli is beautifully responsive both in steering and power, and is even perfectly balanced in terms of weight distribution. To say this car handles superbly would be a terrible understatement. The late, great Margaret Thatcher once said: “Power is like being a lady...if you have to tell people you are, you aren't.” This can be applied very nicely to the Maserati Ghibli.
