YOUR SPA AT WICKWOODS COUNTRY HOTEL & SPA
Unless you’ve had your head under a beauty rock the past few years (or you’re Elle ‘age-defying’
Macpherson), you must have noticed how much more acceptable it is nowadays for both men
and women to embrace beauty treatments in a bid to look after themselves better. Especially
where anti-ageing is concerned. There’s an enormous range of nip, tucks and treatments out
there, all promising to cleanse, tone and massage at least 10 years off our faces, but do they work?
Polly Humphris visited Your Spa at Wickwoods Country Hotel & Spa in a bid to turn back time.

Walking into Your Spa at Wickwoods,
you can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Often spas get it wrong, greeting guests
with a dimly-lit, Zen reception area
before ushering them into a bright, white
treatment room; perhaps to convey an air
of cleanliness. Regardless of the reason,
it doesn’t work. Your Spa has it right,
however – the reception is a light and very
welcoming space manned by attentive staff,
but the pre-treatment waiting area and the
treatment rooms themselves are beautifully
calm; decked out in copper tones of bronze,
plum and gold, they’re entirely in keeping
with the tranquil woodland setting outside.
Offering all manner of beauty maintenance
essentials from classic facials, anti-ageing
treatments, relaxing massages and body
treatments, Your Spa is an advocate of
French brand, Guinot, the veritable queen
of the skincare kingdom. Universally lauded
for its active ingredients and plants extracts
that help keep skin healthy and reduce the
appearance of ageing lines and wrinkles,
treatments are at the very heart of the brand
and Guinot prides itself on remaining at

the forefront of both machine-based and
manual treatments.
As, clearly, does Your Spa. From my very
first meeting with therapist, Samantha,
I could tell the products, the setting and
her were a perfect fit; very friendly, but
equally professional, she set about my ‘Age
Summum’ holistic facial with reassuring
confidence explaining every step of the
way. Chosen from a list of 11 facials, five of
which are holistic, using hands-on touch
and techniques for maximum comfort and
care, the Age Summum is known as the
pinnacle of anti-ageing treatments and uses
a combination of pure vitamin C, hyaluronic
acid and pro-collagen, which are penetrated
into the skin via massage, exfoliation, mask
and moisturising.
The entire experience was blissful and 55
minutes, sadly, went in the blink of an eye.
So, did it work? Put simply: yes. The facial
I opted for promised to smooth fine lines
and wrinkles, as well as restore youthful
radiance and without question my skin felt
softer, but tighter, looked brighter and had

a renewed plumpness – all the signs of a
perfect facial. Proffering an entire gamut of
therapies, pampering treatments and beauty
essentials, not to mention a hydro pool,
swimming pool, gym and tennis courts,
there is an entire catalogue of wonderful
wellness at Your Spa; I urge you to go and
see for yourself.
