Everybody has someone who is a nightmare to buy a gift for – the last person on the list who you constantly put to the back of your mind until the last minute . But , rushed gifting never works well and more often than not , you end up buying something that just feels second best .

Nick and Muir started The Sussex Hamper Company after many years of trying to find gifts for difficult folk . To make it easy , they started with a range of base hampers with an added range of personalised jewellery , accessories and cards , making each gift unique to the recipient . They know a few things about gift giving and have a couple of helpful pointers .
Firstly , never underestimate the value of a surprise . Unwrapping a gift is one of life ’ s great pleasures and brings out the child in us all . Gift giving should be an experience and what sums that up more than rummaging through a box of treats ?
Secondly , make it personal . What does the person like ? Most eyes light up over gorgeous food and drink , but adding something well thought out will take you that extra mile to make it special .
Lastly , if you ’ re not sure what personal message to write , then think about what they post on social media – pictures and comments . Remember conversations and what their sense of humour is ... maybe what films they like , or actors and comedians they favour . Do they have children , or someone else whose name would make them smile . Some clues might even reveal a bit of a wishlist , if you ’ re lucky .
