Not only will you find some unique, homemade, hand-crafted gifts, but you can do it while listening to a wonderful choir; looking out for the magical Snow Queen - who will be on stilts, accompanied by an elf, naturally - and eating authentic street food. There will be over 120 stalls selling gorgeous gifts that will suit all of your friends and family – even the ones who are difficult to buy for. As a bonus, there is a Santa’s grotto so the little ones won’t get bored, and Father Christmas will be bringing his reindeer, so don’t miss out on seeing them. Plus, have you ever wanted to be a blacksmith? Now’s your chance; you can have a go yourself at the Winter Fair. BATEMAN’S REWARDS AND FAIRIES 3-31 Dec www.nationaltrust.org.uk/batemans Kipling’s stories of Sussex fairytales will be the theme for decorations, talks and storytelling and you can use the local landscape Kipling loved to provide the ingredients for natural handmade decorations for the house, tea room and water mill. Locate the homes of the fairies who have been living in Kipling’s books within his study, and the doors which are the routes back to their garden abodes. Find out more about Kipling’s recently republished book, Rewards and Fairies, the sequel to Puck of Pook’s Hill. Outside, follow the ‘Rewards and Fairies Trail’ to spot the cosy winter homes of Kipling’s creatures tucked away around the estate.
