BUSINESS 2016 JUST GOT SWEETER FOR PETWORTH’S ‘DELI OF THE YEAR’ The Hungry Guest, a deli based in Petworth that’s twice been voted the UK’s ‘Deli of the Year’, has just got a whole lot sweeter, and a whole lot greener too having signed up to stock the premium ‘Infusions’ range of honey created by award-winning brand, Origin Honey. The deli will also stock the brand’s sister label, Beehive Brae. Both brands are produced by Plan Bee Ltd, one of the UK’s leading sustainability businesses, who produce award-winning honey, mead and honey beers from their share of honey produced under their beehive management partnerships. With more than 200 beehives based all over the country from Cornwall to Aberdeen, the company is working hard to protect and preserve dwindling honeybee populations, and has returned more than 10-million bees back to their natural environment, making their honey one of the most environmentally-friendly products around. Brett Coleman, retail manager at The Hungry Guest, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Plan Bee in supporting the rejuvenation of the honeybee population within the UK. Our customers know good food and it’s up to me to ensure the best is delivered to our shelves. The ‘Infusions’ range is exceptional and being received well in the shop alongside the unique Beehive Brae honey beers - something I’ll definitely be drinking this summer!” Plan Bee works with businesses large and small to support their environmental credentials. Following a 175 percent successful crowdfunding venture in 2014, Plan Bee developed their premium label, Origin Honey, producing a prestige honey range which now exports as far as Switzerland and Japan. In 2015, Origin Honey received a total of three Great Taste Awards gold stars, leading competition organisers, The Guild of Fine Food, to describe the company as an elite. Plan Bee also produces a Great Taste Awardwinning mead, and two honey beers. Both the artisan blonde beer and the chocolatey red beer varieties will take pride of place on the Hungry Guest’s prestigious shelv es. Plan Bee’s CEO and founder, Warren Bader, added: “While we already export to exclusive stores in Switzerland and Japan, to be stocked on the shelves of the UK’s ‘Deli of the Year’ is an outstanding testament to the quality of our produce. Having picked up the distinguished accolade two years running, it’s certainly no fluke and the Hungry Guest is at the top of its field on merit.” “Our honey has the highest of sustainability credentials, and our beer, as the label proudly quotes, was ‘established for the betterment of bees’. In choosing these products, consumers are showing their support for dwindling honeybee numbers, and showing a greater desire to buy ethically; supporting the environment and championing sustainability.” Plan Bee has also recently expanded its efforts in the south of England, opening a second base in West Sussex. “We’re proud to have established this partnership with the Hungry Guest. Voted ‘Deli of the Year’ for the second time in succession, they clearly recognise highquality produce and a great selling product 111 when they see it,” said company chairman, Mark McDavid. “Our ‘Infusions’ range and our Glengoyne Whisky Honey are premier products that we’re sure West Sussex foodies will really appreciate, while our dry, crisp honey beers are creating a distinct niche of their own in the growing craft beer market. It’s a marriage which can only serve to get Sussex shoppers buzzing.” The Hungry Guest Middle St Petworth West Sussex GU28 OBE 01798 343334 www.thehungryguest.com @thehungryguest Plan Bee Ltd 01698 580572 www.planbeeltd.com @planbeeltd
