Horsham Charity Pancake Races // Feb
All local Horsham businesses, charities and other organisations are
invited to enter teams (preferably in fancy dress) to compete in the annual
Horsham Charity Pancake Race. The event is run by the Rotary Club
and Horsham District Council, and it consists of an 80-metre race that is
completed whilst tossing pancakes.
Horsham Park purposefully has something for everyone from young
to old, no matter what hobbies or interests they may have. It’s a place
that was made for bringing people together. Just a short walk from the
town centre, there is a huge playground, an area for BMX riders and
skateboarders, and extensive open spaces for sports, or for those who
simply want to enjoy the fresh air. It’s also perfect for picnics, and there
is often musical entertainment on the central podium. Within the park
itself you will find The Park House Garden, a sensory landscaped garden
designed for the disabled and visually impaired, a lake, trees, wildlife, the
‘Human Nature Garden’ (showing the link between plants and people),
and a whole host of activities such as tennis courts, bowls, and a
volleyball court. There is even a café.
Spring Equinox Beer Festival // Mar
With over 40 beers, ciders, and perries showcased, this is a fun-filled
event that will bring a new appreciation to the drinks on offer. There is live
music throughout the weekend event too.
Day of Dance // May
Join the Broadwood Morris Men for the annual Day of Dance. There
will be many guest bands also joining Broadwood for the annual Day of
Dance, taking place in and around Horsham Town Centre.
Did You Know?
The last man to die by ‘pressing’ in England was John Weekes, who
came from Horsham and was found guilty of robbery and murder. Also
called crushing, this method of execution involved placing heavy weights
on the accused’s body, slowly suffocating them. Ouch.
