NEWS HAYWARDS GUNMAKERS TO HOST ‘TRY BEFORE YOU BUY’ EVENT The Haywards Guns Open Day on March 19 will provide the chance to shoot the very latest offering from gunmakers, Beretta. The Beretta 692 Sport can be put to the test and compared with a range of other topclass sporting guns at the 'try before you buy' stand at Haywards' latest open day. The Beretta is set to be the star of the show at the popular format event, which attracts shooting enthusiasts from around Sussex and the Home Counties, offering them the chance to try the latest guns and cartridges. There will also be a chance for visitors to brush up on their shooting skills with help from qualified CPSA instructor, Fiona Thompson, whether in terms of basic tips for beginners, or fine tuning for expert shots. BUDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS CALLED ON TO CAPTURE KINGSCOTE VALLEY  Visit Kingscote Valley has launched a new seasonal photography competition seeking a photo that represents the very best of the season within the Kingscote Valley area, whether that be spring flowers in the Standen House garden, or the Weir Wood Reservoir landscape. A prize from a Kingscote Valley attraction is on offer for the best photo of each season and an annual overall winner will also be chosen. Kingscote Valley is a new tourism destination consisting of 2,000-acres of stunning Sussex countryside surrounding East Grinstead and packed with activities and places to stay, eat and explore. “The countryside surrounding East Grinstead is very picturesque, so we wanted a competition that encourages everyone to explore, enjoy and share their images of the Kingscote Valley,” said Dawn Spalding, town promotions manager at East Grinstead Tourism. “There are so many amazing things to see and do within the Kingscote Valley that we want local residents, as well as visitors to Sussex, to know what’s on offer,” added Councillor Gary Marsh, cabinet member for economic development and property at Mid Sussex District Council. The competition starts on March 1 for the spring season and photos submitted need to be taken within the Kingscote Valley area, 12 which stretches south from East Grinstead to West Hoathly, and includes the area around Kingscote station and the Weir Wood Reservoir. Prizes include a Deers Leap Park family pass for four including bike hire, lunch for two at Gravetye Manor, a Busses Farm beef box, and a Kingscote Estate vineyard tour and wine tasting for two.
