The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa // 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Feb
The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa is giving its guests an exclusive
opportunity to delve into Remastered: Bosch to Bellotto at Petworth
House with a private out-of-hours guided tour with a senior curator
followed by an overnight stay.
Remastered: Bosch to Bellotto is the first exhibition to bring together key
early European paintings in the collection – including never before seen
works from the private rooms of Petworth House – in a modern gallery
setting. Guests will gain unmissable insight and new interpretations of
the works with a private tour from a senior curator before the exhibition
opens to the public. Highlights include a 16th century portrait of Henry
VIII from Hans Holbein’s studio which returns from the National Portrait
Gallery’s Real Tudors exhibition, and Andrew del Sarto’s previously
unexhibited Madonna and Child with Saint John. The tour will continue
through three historic state rooms in the main house, which have been
re-hung to highlight the collection of 17th and 18th century masterpieces
by Teniers, van Dyck, Claude, Bellotto and their contemporaries.
