SUSSEX’S SUPER STUART MILLS WINS BEACHY
HEAD MARATHON FOR THE EIGHTH TIME
Acknowledged as one of the hardest crosscountry running events in England, thousands
of runners took to the undulating hills of
Sussex’s South Downs for the Beachy Head
Marathon and 10K Race in October, a 26-mile
journey that includes 300 steps and 14 gates,
and passes through Jevington, Alfriston,
Litlington, Friston Forest, the Cuckmere Valley
and the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, including
Beachy Head.
Eastbourne Borough Council lead cabinet
member for culture, tourism and enterprise,
Counsellor Margaret Bannister said: “Beachy
Head Marathon once again attracted some
world-class runners; local, national and
international participants who all achieved
something great and my congratulations go out
to every single runner for their efforts in running
one of the UK’s most challenging cross-country
courses.
An impressive total of 1,425 marathon runners
completed the course and crossed the finish
line, with Stuart Mills of Uckfield Runners being
the first man home in an impressive time of
three hours, eight minutes and six seconds.
This win, Stuart’s first since 2010, has added
to his remarkable record at this event, a record
that now includes eight wins, four 2nd places,
one 5th place and one 6th place.
“Extra huge congratulations to Stuart Mills for
winning the marathon for the eighth time! I’d
also like to thank all volunteers and community
groups who helped in the staging of another
successful marathon.”
The event was marshalled by 150 volunteers
who all helped to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Next year’s Beachy Head Marathon and 10K
Race will take place on Saturday 29th October
2016 with entries opening on January 1st.

PETWORTH WELCOMES EXCITING NEW RETAIL DESTINATION
Petworth is celebrating the arrival of an exciting shopping destination
with the opening of a new retail shop at Augustus Brandt. Already well
known for their extensive showrooms on Pound St, which display a wide
variety of antiques and bespoke furniture, the business has converted the
adjacent building to create a luxurious shop selling an array of products
just in time for the Christmas shopping season.
The range is not limited to items for the home and also includes added
lines for children including handmade toys, jigsaws and music boxes.
Beautiful cashmere clothing sits alongside Italian bed linen, Ottomania
bath towels and Aromatherapy Associates beauty products. You can
even pick up presents for your pet from a range of luxury dog accessories
from London outfitters, Mungo and Maud.
Among the brands now available is Linley London, creators of bespoke
furniture, collectable pieces, luxury gifts and accessories. The shop has a
room dedicated to this iconic company displaying all sorts of items from
stocking fillers to statement furniture. Visit the first floor of the shop and
you will find a range of porcelain dinnerware and table accessories by
L'objet, as well as colourful glassware, vases and decanters by William
Yeoward Crystal.
“We wanted to create a retail destination accessible for everyone and at
the same time ensure we were offering products not often seen outside
of London or indeed in the United Kingdom,” an Augustus Brandt
spokesperson said. “We will be continuing to source new products all the
time and will be launching a wedding list service in the New Year too. This
is the beginning of a very exciting journey for Augustus Brandt; we want
to create a shop that people will want to return to time and time again
and we are looking forward to offering that ex W&
