Worthing International Birdman
Competition // July – With three different
categories ranging from the fun to the totally
serious, the Birdman competition is a chance
for entrants to show how far they can fly by
leaping off the end of Worthing Pier and either
hoping for the best or using their incredible
flying machines to try to win a cash prize.
Worthing Festival // July-Aug – The
Worthing Festival has plenty to do for the
whole family. A family funfair, the Splash FM
pop concert, markets, car displays, fireworks,
birds of prey displays, and much more can be
enjoyed throughout July and August.
Worthing Food & Drink Festival // July –
A full weekend of food and drink, with local
producers, chefs, and growers available to chat
to about all things Sussex. Watch incredible
food made before your eyes, taste new and
exciting flavours, and even take the opportunity
to purchase some new kitchen equipment.
Children’s Parade // June – Worthing
Children’s Parade is a day of music, dance
and creative arts. Working its way through the
town from the seafront, and finishing at the
lovely Steyne Gardens, everyone involved has
the chance to show what they can do, and the
local schools can show off their achievements.
Top Spot
The Pavilion Theatre is located at the end of
Worthing Pier, and is a hot bed of talent. Built
in 1926, this highly decorated, regal looking
theatre is an excellent venue for a play, musical,
ballet, or opera. Versatile and stunning, the
Pavilion Theatre is a must see and must book
when in town.

In 1895, Oscar Wilde was living in Worthing,
which is when he wrote perhaps his most
famous work, The Importance of Being
Earnest. The main character in the play is
called Jack Worthing, after the town.
