DAYSOUT summer holiday activities cont. Lagoon Water Sports Royal Academy of Dance www.lagoon.co.uk // Hove www.rad.org.uk // London, Jersey and Birmingham With everything from yacht sailing to windsurfing, you can experience every kind of water sports activity in just one place. With qualified and expert instructors on hand to guide you through the process, and teach you all you need to know, this could be the perfect starting point to many future seafaring adventures. And for the children there are activity weeks featuring windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, SUP, and on-land activities. Kids can learn to sail at Hove Lagoon from the age of 6 with the RYA Learn to Sail Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses, and age 12 on the sea. River Deep Mountain High © David Tett www.riverdeepmountainhigh.co.uk // Lake District At the Royal Academy of Dance there are weeklong courses involving two daily classes in ballet and creative dance. Themed classes let your child use their imagination to create an original dance with their teachers. A fun week ends with a lively presentation with props and make-up, for parents and guardians. These workshops are for children aged 4 to 7 years. For those aged 7 to 16 (with one year’s dance experience), there is a professional master class allowing the children to refine their performance and creative skills. The two days will finish with a presentation for parents, guardians and teachers. Manor House Hotel www.manorhousehotel.co.uk // Devon There are a number of different climbing adventures available with River Deep Mountain High; the most popular adventure day consists of climbing, scrambling and abseiling around the Pike O'Blisco, with the option of a walk to the top to see the fantastic views. On this day, you can learn more about climbing, further your existing knowledge, learn how to belay, learn how to place natural protection in rock, learn about climbing calls, practice climbing techniques, and do some bouldering! There are also half-day climbing activities available for those who aren’t quite as confident, or who have never climbed before. Children are welcome over the age of 6, and you can bet this is something they will never forget about – come September they will still be talking about how they climbed up a rock face in the Lake District! There are other activities available too, including archery, mountain biking, abseiling, and guided walks. There are even family bundles, which are perfect for families of varying ages! By working with the organisers, you will create the best itinerary for you all. At The Manor House Hotel, Devon, you can enjoy as many arts and crafts activities as you can possibly fit into your time there. Choose from pottery, painting, t-shirt printing, stained glass design, jewellery making, embroidery, enamelling, picture framing, woodwork, candle making, and much, much more. And when you have spent a hard day creating something beautiful, why not unwind with a spot of swimming (the pool even includes flumes!), golf, snooker, bowling, a guided walk, or any number of other sporting activities. Or simply do nothing at all and enjoy the fabulous surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. 67
